Hey guys, thank for tuning in this week! As we drive closer to the conclusion for this episode of Jambalaya Mixtape presents Provider, with 8-Ball dead and Lucky baited into the rendezvous apartment, we then see he is double-crossed by Baby and literally stabbed in the back. But who brings a knife to a gun fight anyways? It looks like Lucky just might still have the upper-hand here but we will have to find out next week! But with what happened on today’s page here, I think that it would only be appropriate that the “SONG OF THE DAY” go to the O’Jays for their old school classic “Back Stabbers”
I also wanted to share a kickstarter campaign with ya’ll I recently supported called BLACK COMIX RETURNS – African American Comic Art & Culture by John Jennings and Damian Duffy. An artbook project celebrating the best established and up-and-coming African American artists and writers in the independent comic book industry. Several years ago, Professor Jennings and Dr. Duffy compiled and published a 176 page collection of art and essays celebrating the vibrant African American independent comics community, featuring over 50 contributors, including Dawud Anyabwile, Eric Battle, Kenji Marshall, Afua Richardson, Larry Stroman, Rob Stull, Lance Tooks, and many, many more. It seems like a pretty cool project, and is definitely something I would love to see Jamabalaya Mixtape be apart of in the near future, especially once we start hitting up the whole “comic convention circuit” after we go into print!
