And finally, here’s the conclusion to Issue #1! Page 22! It’s been one hell of a ride and we still have some ways to go, but it look’s like Chloe Amor might have stepped in just in the knick of time to help keep Lucky from bleeding out. I guess we will have to wait to find out later this spring, but what a cliffhanger! Talk about a down ass bitch lol, it seems like Chloe is already starting to become a fan favorite within the series so we can definitely expect to see more of her in the near-future. My good friend Andrew Phillips is a cosplay photographer who does some pretty awesome work, just did this shoot of Chloe and Star for me! These are DOPE! I can’t tell you how cool it is to see my characters come to life! I’m definitely looking for to seeing more cosplay soon, maybe we should put together some type of competition for some free goodies and original art?
Now it seems that things are really gettin’ better, In my life.
Is it just today or things are really gettin’ better, We’ll see tonight.
Lyrics from N.E.R.D’s “Things are Getting Better,” between that and lyrics from another N.E.R.D. song “Shit happens, just blow it off!” have become two mantras I live by. Whenever I’m going through something in life I can literally play either of those songs to find my way back to my happy place. The perfect counter to Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Like with this last page, in the beginning everything seemed to be going smooth while sketching it out at first. Then after putting a few hours into inking the page I had to take a break to start a tattoo. I finish the tattoo and head back to my precious Wacom, crank up photoshop, attempt to open the file for “PROVIDER_PAGE_22 and wham! The file got corrupted somehow(literally this is the first time this ever happened to me, but whatever happen Photoshop would not recognize the file.) So I had to start over from scratch, what a bummer! But still, I also really wanted to get this page out in time so I kicked myself into overdrive and pulled an all-nighter to get ‘er done. I emailed the art off to my color assistant so he can help knock out the flats before I go back in & add the shading and it nearly takes him a day to get back to me. Forcing me to pull another all-nighter! (Take about being exhausted, I haven’t feel like this since my college days lol.)
I also wanted to let ya’ll know that I’m going to be taking a small break from putting out new pages of Provider online while we focus on the production of getting physical copies of Jambalaya Mixtape made! I’ve also been feeling a little boogled down, spending so much time couped up over my desk in the studio so I’m going to take a brief vacation this week for some fresh air and inspiration. I’ll be heading down to Buenos Aires tomorrow so I can focus on writing Issue #2 in different and new atmosphere (which has already been completed but I think we can make a few edits to make it even more awesome.)
I don’t know how many times I can thank the all of you for taking the time to check out my little webcomic, it really means a lot and I’m gonna miss you guys over the next few weeks… Please feel free to keep up with me on social media @whoiscoreydavvis as I will be posting a lot more character concept art and behind-the-scenes stuff on there in the meantime. Please feel free to drop a comment below and share! Thanks!
